Volunteer / Internship Opportunities Join the many volunteers and interns who donate their time and talents to the Great Neck Arts Center each year! Volunteers and interns can receive high school or college credit and/or community service hours, when applicable. For more information contact 516.829.2570. Volunteer Needs Include:Administrative:Volunteers are needed to assist with the administrative needs of the Art Center. Some of the volunteer duties include typing, filing, data entry, and help with direct mail campaigns. Arts Center Ambassador:Help staff Art Center public appearances in the Long Island and Queens area. Opportunities include setting up and staffing informational booths at community events, street fairs, accompanying artists to demonstrate various art media, and giving out information at trade and specialty shows. Orientation and training will be provided. Education:Assist the Education Department with various administrative needs including processing mailings, filing and data entry. Teaching assistant positions are also available within our School for the Arts. Exhibitions:Volunteers are needed to assist in the installation of art exhibits. This includes crating/uncrating, wrapping/un-wrapping, hanging and taking down artwork. Docent:Educate visitors to our Gallery by conducting tours of the building and exhibitions. Volunteers are invited to attend training sessions to receive specialized information about the artwork in upcoming exhibitions. Special Events:Volunteers are needed to assist with all stages of preparation for our special events, including our Annual Gala. Tasks include party planning responsibilities, soliciting sponsors, clerical and computer work and help with direct mail campaigns. Film Program: Volunteers are needed to assist with our many film programs,
including the Furman Film Series and the Gold Coast International
Film Festival. Responsibilities include research, distributing
flyers and promotional materials, handing out programs at events and
clerical work.
