The
Great Neck Arts Center and Long Island’s Plainview/Old Bethpage
Central School District are members of the Partners in Education
program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Washington, DC. Selected because of their demonstrated commitment to
the improvement of education in and through the arts, the
Partnership Team participates in collaborative efforts to make the
arts integral to education. This affiliation is granted to a select
few and the Arts Center is one of only three (3) Kennedy Center
partnerships in New York State and is the only partnership with a
public school district. Its partnership, since 1996, gives the Arts
Center the opportunity to provide teacher training and development
focused on integrating the arts into classroom curriculum. The Arts
Center’s Kennedy Center Workshops are offered to all school
districts on Long Island. In 2006 Regina Gil, Executive Director of
the Great Neck Arts Center was elected to the Advisory Committee of
the Partners in Education Program of the John F. Kennedy Center. |
